Somatic Movement
Somatic Movement for Adults 25+
A gentle, mindful movement programme designed to help adults reconnect with their bodies, become more aware of their feelings and energy, and make time for their own wellbeing.
Our sessions combine gentle movement, breathing, body awareness, grounding and relaxation, with calming background music or relaxing sounds to help create a peaceful atmosphere. Through simple movements of the hands, arms, legs and feet, participants are invited to notice physical sensations, feel connected to the ground beneath them, and explore the connection between their body, mind, feelings and energy.
During sessions, movement focuses on reconnecting with the body from head to toe, gently moving the hands and arms, feeling the feet supported by the earth, noticing posture and breathing, and becoming more aware of how the body feels while moving and resting. There is no need for complicated movements or choreography. Everyone is encouraged to explore at their own pace and discover what feels comfortable and natural.
The sessions also include moments of stillness, reflection and relaxation, offering an opportunity to slow down, step away from everyday pressures, notice your inner feelings and reconnect with yourself. Calming sounds complement the movement and help create an atmosphere where participants can feel present, grounded and connected to the space around them.
Whether you lead a busy life, spend much of your time caring for others, are going through a period of change, or simply want to make more time for yourself, these sessions offer a welcoming opportunity to pause, breathe, move and reconnect.
No previous experience is needed.
You do not need to be flexible or fit — simply come as you are.
A Welcoming Space to Move and Reconnect
Our Somatic Movement sessions are for adults aged 25 and over, of all genders. Women during pregnancy or after birth may also be welcome where the activities are appropriate for their individual needs.
The programme offers an opportunity to explore gentle movement, develop body awareness, feel more grounded and enjoy time dedicated to your own wellbeing.
There is no pressure to perform or get anything right. You can adapt movements, take breaks or rest whenever you need to.
At The Creative Hearts, we aim to create a supportive, welcoming environment where everyone can explore movement without judgement, listen to their bodies and reconnect with themselves at their own pace.
A Free Full-Term Programme
Every adult aged 25 and over can access a free full-term programme of Somatic Movement, giving you the opportunity to reconnect with your body, develop greater body awareness and explore gentle movement practices that support your everyday wellbeing.
Through mindful movement, breathing, grounding and relaxation, you will have time to slow down, become more aware of your feelings and energy, and reconnect with yourself in a welcoming and supportive environment.
This programme is made possible thanks to funding from Sport England, whose support allows us to offer these sessions free of charge and create a welcoming space where adults can move, connect and feel supported. We are incredibly grateful for their investment in the health, wellbeing and movement of our community.
We have limited spaces available each term, so if you feel this programme is right for you, book your free place today and give yourself the opportunity to move, breathe, reconnect and feel more grounded.
